Winston Emerson Guthrie

Winston Emerson Guthrie, 70, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at home in Notasulga, Alabama. He was born in East Tallassee, AL, on December 26, 1952, to the late Frank Emerson Guthrie and Leveron Ethridge Guthrie.

Winston graduated from Notasulga High School and Auburn University. After college, he served as an officer in the US Air Force for eleven years working in security and the Titan II missile program. He achieved the rank of Captain. Later he worked for 31 years in security for Christiana Hospital in both Newark, DE and Wilmington, DE. Winston loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking in nature.

He is survived by three siblings: Carolyn Guthrie Sherman and husband David, Verner Noel Guthrie and wife Harriett, and Christa Guthrie Bina and husband Paul. In addition, he is survived by nephews Jacob Sherman, Benjamin Guthrie, Daniel Guthrie, David Guthrie, Michael Hood, Erik Hood; and nieces Jessica Stewart, Ruth Guthrie, and Sarah Guthrie. He also leaves behind seven great-nieces and nephews.

A visitation is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty City Methodist Church. Burial follows in the church cemetery.
