William Douglas Ledbetter, 70, of Shorter died Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. A memorial service will be held July 19, 2025, at 10:00 am at Bradford’s Chapel. Mr. Ledbetter was preceded in death by his partner Bob Wilson, his mother Joyce Oyler, and his father Clifford Ledbetter. He is survived by his siblings Roy Ledbetter, Lynn (BJ) Ledbetter, Pam Smith, Mike Ledbetter, and Samantha (Kenny) Scruggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
It’s hard to put into words how much Doug meant to all of us. He had a huge heart, and he loved big! Through his ministry at the Bradford’s Chapel Thrift Store, he was like the hands and feet of Jesus helping and blessing others. Through his dedication to serving others, he received the greatest blessing: the love of all who knew him!
He left his mark with the flowers he planted throughout the community for all to see and enjoy. Every bloom will be a reminder that he is still with us. We can imagine God naming him “Heaven’s Master Gardener.” He worked so hard, but he is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
He was a devoted member of Bradford’s Chapel. Please join us at the church to celebrate his wonderful life.
