Wilkie Spratling Norman Obituary

Wilkie Spratling Norman, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 11 am at Vaughn Park Church of Christ in Montgomery, AL with Brother Sam Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 am at the church. A private burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Norman was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Memaw, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and banker.

Wilkie Spratling Norman was born in Macon County on June 29, 1935. The daughter of the late Anna Elizabeth Stilwell Spratling and Jessie J. Spratling. Her grandparents, the late Clide Chadwick Stilwell and L. A. Stilwell. The late paternal grandparents, Emma P. Gunn Spratling and W.L. (Sank) Spratling of Macon County. 

She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Thomas S. Norman, Jr.; three daughters, Linda Simpson (Jeff), Rebecca Blair (Monty), Sandra Lassiter; her sister, Ludie Gaddy; her seven grandchildren, Monty Blair (Angela), Crystal Blair Rogers (Eric), Grant Lassiter (Chris), Kaycee Lassiter Wiggins (Jason), Brady Lassiter, Michael Simpson, and Jennifer Simpson Scott (Brad); her eight great-grandchildren, Aiden, Makenzie, and Carter Blair, Erin and Sterling Rogers, Makala and Jase Wiggins, and Owen Lassiter; numerous extended family and many friends.  

She was a banker and retired from Regions Bank in Montgomery as Vice President (Branch Manager) in July 1998. She was active in both civic and community affairs. She attended Massey Draughon Business College, Troy State, AUM, and AIB Banking School. She was a charter member of the Lakewood Church of Christ where she was actively involved in the preschool department for years and a charter member of the Vaughn Park Church of Christ. She loved God and depended on Him to lead her. The greatest legacy she passed on to her family was her persistence and determination as well as many other traits like sharing encouraging words and expecting us to do our best. She was a remarkable woman and will be greatly missed.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Comfort Care Hospice and Pamela Cade.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the “Family Care Ministry” at Vaughn Park Church of Christ or Agape, 3800 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL  36106.
