Velma Jean (Childers) Smith, age 82 of Upper Tract, WV, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at EA. Hawse Nursing and Rehabilitation in Baker, WV.
Jean was born on November 9, 1938, in Dadeville, AL and was the daughter of the late James Robert Childers and Maggie (Sims) Childers. In addition to her parents Jean was
preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah (Reynolds) McGaha and two brothers, Luther J. Childers and Floyd "Pete" Childers.
Jean is survived by her husband James Leo Smith, three daughters Sherril Reynolds (Karey) Thompson of Notasulga, AL, Diana Smith of Douglasville, GA and Donna (Darren) Stallard of Zephyrhills, FL, one granddaughter Kristina Childs, one great granddaughter Kynleigh Jean Childs, three brothers James R. (Linda) Childers, Jr. of Hubert, NC, Grover Childers of Tallassee, AL, and Mitchell (Ann) Childers of Notasulga, AL. Jean retired from Krystal Company in Douglasville, GA. She was a member of South
Branch Ruritan Club in Upper Tract, WV.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Notasulga First Baptist Church, Notasulga, AL, December 3, 2021, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Branch Ruritan Club, 784 Jake Hill Road, Upper Tract, WV 26866.
