Tony Kirk McCarty

Tony McCarty, a beloved father, friend, and Master Mason, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at his home in Auburn, AL. He was 68 years old. 

Tony was born on October 1, 1954, in Opelika, AL. He spent his life spreading love and kindness to everyone he met. He was a true titan of generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Tony was also a Master Mason, and he dedicated his life to serving his community through his involvement in the Masonic Lodge. He embodied the principles of Freemasonry and was admired and respected by all who knew him. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp 1921 and the Lions Club. 
He gave 27 years of his life to the Town of Notasulga as head of the water department. 

Those who knew Tony will remember him as a kind and giving man with a heart of gold. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply and always made sure they knew how much they meant to him. He was also a loyal friend to many and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome.

Tony is survived by his longtime partner Nancy Ford; his children Brandi (Daniel) Long, Jennifer (Jeffery) Hatchett; his grandchildren Tristan (Baylee) Long, Ainsley Long, Aaron Long, Charlsie Long, Brennen Long, Kayla (Roy) Sosebee, Joshua Hatchett; his great grandchildren Thad and Sassy Sosebee, Livie and Jaxton Hatchett, Alex and Matt Martin; and his many friends and loved ones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his son James Culver, his mother Helen McCarty, and his father Tommy McCarty. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Corbitt’s Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at Victory Baptist Cemetery in Loachapoka at 11:30 A.M.
