Thomas “Tom” Leroy Clancy, Jr. Obituary

Thomas "Tom" Leroy Clancy, Jr. passed away peacefully in Birmingham on May 11, 2024. He was born to Thomas Leroy Clancy, Sr. and Annie B. Frey Clancy on January 31, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Having lost his father as an infant, Tom and his mother lived his childhood in Shreveport where he honed his skills and love for baseball and as a competitive tennis player.

He went on to graduate from C.E. Byrd High School and later from Centenary College of Louisiana with a bachelor of science before going on to law school, where he earned his juris doctorate.

After college, Tom went to work for General Electric in Birmingham, where he would marry, have a daughter and spend the remainder of his life.

Tom is survived by his daughter Kristen Marianne Clancy Jenkins and her husband William Brent Jenkins along with his grandchildren Anna Collier Jenkins and William Clancy Jenkins. He is also survived by his long time companion Maureen Eide and his dear friends: Charles and Lynette Knox of Shreveport; Tom Purcell of Effingham, Illinois; and Bobby Comeaux of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Tom's love for golf and travel brought him immense joy and that legacy will continue to live on through his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

Tom's family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. William "Randy" Harrison for his faithful care and wisdom over many decades.

A memorial service will be held at Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover, Alabama, on Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
