Thomas Joseph Rowell Sr, born July 21, 1939, died of natural causes at Oak Park Nursing Home October 18, 2021. He was born in Montgomery, AL, to his parents Joseph Douglas and Marjorie Sue Rowell who preceded him in death. He married Margaret Louise Dakin July 23, 1966, and had three children: Thomas J. Rowell Jr., of Walkerton, IN, Frederick Byron Rowell of Woodstock, GA, and Lisa Marie Deac of Marietta, GA. He is also preceded in death by his only brother William James Rowell. He has six grandchildren and one step-granddaughter.
He grew up in Notasulga, AL, graduating from high school in 1957. He then worked for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad with his father as a dining car steward which is how he met his late wife Margaret. He retired from the City of Marietta water department. They raised all three children in Marietta, then after his wife passed, retired back to Notasulga.
Visitation will be at the Notasulga United Methodist Church on Thursday, Oct. 21, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at Notasulga United Methodist Church, Friday, Oct. 22, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Tom Skeen officiating. Burial will follow in the old Notasulga Cemetery next to his wife, parents, and grandparents.
