Sylvia Taleeda Sharpe, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 17, 1944, and raised in Tuskegee.
Taleeda had a unique sense of design and style, specifically a southwestern flair which seemed to spark from her days as a majorette at Tuskegee High School where she proudly adorned an Indian headdress representing the Tuskegee Indians. She enjoyed the beach, swimming, summertime, gardening and the outdoors; but most of all, Taleeda adored her granddaughters, grand son-in-law and great grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than planning creative birthday parties, dazzling holidays, and simply spending quality time with them. Known as “LaLa” to them, LaLa will always hold a very special place in their hearts and will be missed greatly.
Taleeda is lovingly remembered by her daughter Tia Bell Glenn of Seaside, Florida; her granddaughters Hannah (Josh) Sigler of Birmingham and Channing Glenn of Los Angeles; her great grandchildren Goldie and Moss Sigler of Birmingham; her sisters Deb (Drew) Barnett, Dawn Lane, Daria (Phil) Story, all of Auburn; her cousins Karen (Scot) Ferguson of Columbus, GA, Kenneth (Leigh) Trammell of Mina, South Dakota, Oliver (Terrie) Trammell of Fredericksburg, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased in death by her baby daughter Tana TaleedaBell; her brother Andy Sharpe of Auburn; her parents Andrew Vernon Sharpe and his wife Dommie Reynolds Sharpe of Auburn; and her mother Jeanette Smith Sharpe Wright of Tuskegee and Montgomery.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Twenty-One Acres, 5535 Wire Road, Auburn with a celebration of life reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Citizens Church, Children’s Ministry, 8300 9th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35206, www.citizensbhm.com, or to the charity of your choice.
