Stuart Samuel Cope, Jr., 78, of Franklin, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Bethany House in Auburn. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Bradford’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Meadows and Rev. John Sasser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 3, 2021, at Corbitt’s Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Lt. Commander Cope retired after a 20 year career in the US Navy as a pilot. He was also a 32° Mason, Master of the Notasulga Masonic Lodge #119, a member of the Doric Lodge in Tallassee, and a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Montgomery. He also served in the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Edna Fischer Cope; his children John Cope and Jason (Jessica) Cope; his grandchildren Anna and Luis Marquez, Julian Cope, Katerina Cope, Cristina Cope, and Connor Cope; and his sister Marge Kenney.
