Sarah Mayzell Haynie Segrest “Mayzie”, 87, of Notasulga, Alabama, died on Saturday, December 23rd, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, Alabama. She was born on April 5, 1936, in Tallassee, Alabama. Mayzell retired in 1997 from Auburn University in the payroll department. She was a member of the Notasulga First Baptist Church.
Mayzell is survived by her children Daryl (Melinda) Weldon of Notasulga, Alabama, Shonda (Ken) Copen of Thorsby, Alabama, and Gene (Amy) Morris of Hamilton, Alabama. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Joni (Steven) Soltau of Auburn, Alabama, Dusty (Amanda) Weldon of Phenix City, Alabama, Drake Morris of Hamilton, Alabama, and Kinley Copen of Thorsby, Alabama. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren: Parker Smith, Kenadie Smith, Kennedy Soltau, and Sutton Soltau, all of Auburn, and many nephews and nieces.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Notasulga First Baptist Church beginning with visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, immediately followed by interment at Memory Gardens in Notasulga. Andy Chamness will be officiating the services.
Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews Kim Peters (Tallassee) and Klay Peters (Tallassee), grandsons Dusty Weldon (Phenix City) and Drake Morris (Hamilton), and great grandson Parker Smith (Auburn).
