Robert Michael "Mike" Berry, 64, of Notasulga, died Monday, March 14, 2022. Mike was born on August 26, 1957, at Macon County Hospital in Tuskegee, AL. He was currently serving as the District 4 County Commissioner of Macon County where he served for 29 years. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Notasulga High School Gymnasium with Rev. Tom Skeen officiating. Burial will follow in Notasulga Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Notasulga High School Gymnasium from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Mike is survived by his son Russ Berry; his daughter Dawn (Neil) Godfrey; his mother Frances Berry; his siblings Wilbur (Linda) Berry and Linda (Ricky) Hatchett; his grandchildren Walden and Chloe Berry, Nick Clark, and Haley (Allen) Lott; his great granddaughter Ella Mae Lott; his nephew Michael (Hanna) Hatchett; and his niece Michelle (Adam) Clayton. Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his wife Helen Berry, his father Wilbur Berry, and his nephew Allen Berry.
In addition to being a County Commissioner, Mike served as a police officer in Notasulga, Tuskegee, Franklin, and Macon County as a deputy sheriff. He was a school bus driver from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s, and worked for ALDOT from the mid 1990s to 2003. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Notasulga. Mike was also a supporter of Notasulga High School and Macon County. He worked diligently for all citizens of Macon County. He never met a stranger and loved everyone especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, and Notasulga and Auburn University Athletics. He had a servant's heart.
