John “Bubba” Knowles Langford Obituary

John Knowles Langford, age 85, a longtime resident of Montgomery, AL, was born in Little Texas, AL, on November 4, 1939. He peacefully went to his heavenly home on February 2, 2025.

John was preceded in death by his parents James Olin Langford and Emma Gallups Langford Smith, his sister Betty June Langford Wright (Buddy), his beloved wife of 55 years Evelyn Ganelle Tyson Langford, and many cherished family members and dear friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His faith, family, and friends meant everything to him, and he lived a life filled with love and kindness.

He is survived by his three children John Gallups Langford, Jennifer Langford D’Olimpio (preceded in death by Russ), and Elizabeth Langford Johnson (Todd); six grandchildren Rusty D’Olimpio (Amber), Ashleigh Jackson (David), John Tyson Langford (Stephanie), Jamie McQueen (Justin), Wesley Johnson, and Maddie Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and cousins, as well as his sister-in-law Martha Tyson Venable. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Johnette Tyson Griggs (Monroe).

After serving in the U.S. Army, John built a long and fulfilling career at Dixie Bearings, Inc. in Montgomery, AL, where he worked for over 50 years, excelling as a salesman. Following his first retirement, he worked for Nelson Electric Motors in Opelika, AL, for eight years before officially retiring in 2020 at the age of 80.

John’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He grew up at Union Christian Church in Tuskegee, AL, and later became a dedicated member of First Christian Church in Montgomery, AL, where he worshiped until his passing. He served his church community as a Deacon, Elder, and Chairman of the Board on three separate occasions, always leading with a servant’s heart.

Pallbearers will be Justin McQueen, Laredo Russell, Keith Thomas, Kenny Wicks, Jimmy Wilson, and Preston M. Wright.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Union Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m., with graveside services immediately afterward.

John’s life was a testament to faith, family, and hard work. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
