Gregory Michael Yancey Obituary

Gregory Michael Yancey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away on September 5, 2024, in his Tallassee home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 8, 1954, in Tallahassee, Florida, to Thomas Allen Yancey and Peggy Yancey.

Gregory's life was defined by hard work and unwavering love for his family. His dedication as a husband of 21 years to Thelma Jolanda Yancey and as a father to four daughters - Andie Yancey, Wendi Little, Elizabeth Jones & Angela Reese - and two sons - Jamie Yancey and Jeffrey Yancey - was unparalleled. His legacy lives on through the many grandchildren who were fortunate enough to know him.

Throughout his life's journey from Tallahassee, Florida, to Tallassee, Alabama, where he took his last breath with his daughter and three of his grandchildren by his side; Gregory wore many hats. He served as a member of SCV Camp 1921 in Tallassee, Alabama. Additionally worked tirelessly as a security guard in Alys Beach on 30A; water/wastewater operator in Panama City Beach; EMT/firefighter/deputy sheriff in Carabelle, Florida.

His passing is preceded by that of both parents Thomas Allen Yancey and Peggy Yancey along with the loss of Thelma Jolanda whom he shared over two decades worth of memories together.

The impact Gregory had on those around him cannot be overstated. His kindness knew no bounds – touching the hearts of everyone he encountered throughout his lifetime.

In honor of this remarkable man's memory there will be a celebration held at a later date so that all who loved him can gather together one final time.
