Eleanor Blakely, 65, was born and raised in Tallassee, AL. She passed away on Jan 30, 2021, at UAB. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Corbitt’s Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Gene Bridgman officiating. She is survived by her daughter Amy (Jonathon) Creamer; her sisters Sandra Hall, Vicky (Donnie) Barnes, and Tammy (Terry) Dickerson; her grandchildren Andrew, J.J., Chris, Emily, Luke and James; and many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives she claimed as her own. To know her, at times, was frustrating, but to understand her, was to love her unconditionally.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Eloise and Morrell Knowles, her sister Shelia Henderson, her brother-in-law George Hall, her son Jamie Blakely, and her granddaughter Ann Creamer.
Ms. Blakley worked her whole life and formed many friendships that would become unbreakable bonds. She was a graduate of Tallassee High School and wore the colors proudly, second only to her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.
She suffered tremendous loss in her life. She lost her parents, her sister, her soulmate, a grandchild and buried a son.
She had numerous health issues and took most of it in stride. Sometimes she stumbled, but you never saw her quit. She loved her grandkids with a force that has yet to find a rival. She would gladly tell you she would take a "kids night" over a "night out" any day. She was everyone's confidant and gave the best advice.
She was loved, and she will be missed dearly.
