Charles Gates

Charles Gates, 83, of Montgomery, passed away on January 28, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Faye Gates; his children Wanda (Carl) Hamm, and Chuck (Cindy) Gates; his grandchildren Ashley Gates, Brittany (Cliff) Compton, Kevin (Carrie) Hamm, and Bradley (Retta) Hamm; 5 great grandchildren; and his brother Michael (Susan) Gates. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. After retirement from International Paper, he enjoyed raising cows and gardening at his farm. He loved his family and was always there to answer their questions or help them. He is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Vera Gates, his sister Martha Adams, and his brother Jimmy Gates. Visitation will be January 31, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Corbitt’s Funeral Home in Tuskegee followed by a graveside service in Little Texas Cemetery at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Christian Church.
