Ray Sherman Uphold

Ray Sherman Uphold, 70, of Notasulga, died Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Bethany House in Auburn.  Funeral services will be Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Notasulga First Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Tim Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Notasulga Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the church.  Mr. Uphold is survived by his wife of almost 35 years J.J. Uphold; his sons Jeffrey Paul (Mollie) Uphold of Eugene, OR, Christopher Ray (Missy) Uphold of Cookeville, TN, Jody Allen (Wanda) Fowlow of Opelika, James Michael (Amy) Fowlow of Opelika, and Jeremy Ray (Judy) Uphold of Rincon, GA; 16 grandchildren; his sister Judy Uphold of Morgantown, WV; and his daughters-in-law Megan Samac and Donna Kelley.  He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.  Mr. Uphold served in the US Army for 23 years and retired as a 1st SGT.  After his retirement from the Army, he worked 20 years as a supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific/Capital Vial in Auburn.  He loved working in his yard.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
