Henry Asa Vaughan, III, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at his home. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Liberty Baptist Church in Opelika at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Frank Chappell officiating. In honor of Asa, the family requests casual attire. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Hurtsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Corbitt's Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Mr. Vaughan is survived by his wife of 50 years Ellen Vaughan; his children Dee (Tarah) Vaughan, Cathy Vaughan, and Patrick (Alex) Vaughan; five grandchildren Kadence, Zoey, Titus, Max, and Remi; his brother Roland (Jean) Vaughan; his sister Charlotte (Lynn) Jinks; and his uncle Tom (Ethel) Vaughan. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Asa and Jean Vaughan. Asa ran H.A. Vaughan Feed and Seed, the oldest business in Tuskegee and the oldest Nutrena dealership in the Southeast, since 1974. His grandfather opened the business in 1942. Asa graduated from Troy State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business. He also served in the Alabama Army National Guard and retired as a Lt. Col. after 33 1/2 years. He was a man of outstanding character, and his advice was always free.
