Today Hurtsboro lost one of its finest citizens. Fleta Simmons McCain, 99, of Hurtsboro, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at Columbus Hospice.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. CST at Hurtsboro Cemetery. Bro. Chris Webb, Pastor of First Baptist Church will officiate.
Mrs. McCain was born September 16, 1917, in Hurtsboro, AL, to Wilbur Hix and Luella Braswell Simmons. Her mother died when she was 2 weeks old, and she was raised by her uncle and aunt Hal and Frances Simmons.
Mrs. McCain is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Forrest Melvin McCain.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909, or Hurtsboro Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 535, Hurtsboro, AL 36860.
