Jewel Diana Griggs Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Jewel Diana Griggs, who left this world on March 24, 2024. She peacefully went to be with her Savior as she was surrounded with love from her family.
Diana, better known as Diane, was a loving spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, daughter and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Diana’s speech exhibited grace, encouragement and kindness to all. Her loyalty was unmatched to those she loved.
Born on April 7, 1946, in Pontotoc, Mississippi to the late James and Jewel Loyd of Lake City, Florida.
As a daughter of an aircraft sheet metal specialist in the ‘40s and ‘50s, she moved frequently and met her future husband, Bobby Eugene Griggs in 1962, while Bobby and Mr. Loyd worked at Hayes Aircraft in Dothan, Alabama. Diane graduated from Dale County High School and married the love of her life and had two children. She later started a career at the Alabama State Board of Missions in Montgomery, Alabama, where she retired after devoting 23 years.
Diane lived a full and vibrant life and was known for her kindness, generosity, and genuine care for people around her. She had a passion for reading, sewing, watching baseball, and singing Gospel music with her husband. When she joined her husband in Okinawa, Japan they wore out the road to the library and would read five to six books a week. Once her grandchildren came along, she sewed and smocked many gowns and outfits. She touched the lives of so many with her warm spirit and gentle nature. Diane is survived by her loving family, Bobby, her devoted husband of almost 60 years; her children Sandra (Dallas) Vick and Robert (Tracie) Griggs, six grandchildren, Samantha Taylor, Jessica (Jay) Wainwright, James “Austin” Vick, Jackson Griggs, Tanner Griggs, and Lucy Brynn Griggs; seven great grandchildren, Kennedi Graham, Wesley Graham, Paisley Wainwright, Penelope “Nelly” Graham, James “Phillip” Wainwright III, Jace Taylor, and Charli Taylor; and sister, Susanne Jones of Dunnellon, Florida.
She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family.
